Aug. 11—A 27-year-old Elkhart woman was arrested by Goshen police at 2:44 a.m. Saturday on multiple charges.
According to police, officers saw a vehicle traveling north in the 1500 block of Elkhart Road at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was going around numerous vehicles. Officers stopped the vehicle at Westwood Drive and Elkhart Road.
The woman who was driving the car was arrested on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, resisting law enforcement, intimidation and driving while never receiving a driver's license.
The woman was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
Car catches fire after crash
A 22-year-old Elkhart woman was injured in a crash that led to her vehicle catching fire on Ind. 15, north of U.S. 20, at 4:12 a.m. Saturday.
According to Elkhart County deputies, Autumn Jimenez, 22, was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue south on Ind. 15 when her vehicle left the west side of the road and went into a ditch. The vehicle continued back onto Ind. 15 where it caught fire.
Jimenez complained of back pain and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
One injured in crash
A Chicago woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:50 p.m. Friday on U.S. 12, near Anderson Road in Cass County, Michigan
A vehicle driven by Leona Ledell, 72, Chicago, was westbound on U.S. 12 when it crashed into the rear of another vehicle driven by Autumn Nussel, 29, Elkhart. Nussel was stopped, attempting to make a left turn from U.S. 12.
Nussel had two other passengers in her vehicle, Lisa Klopenstine, 56, Elkhart, and a juvenile.
Ledell was taken to Lakeland/Corwell Health Niles Hospital for her injuries.
PURSUIT
Goshen police attempted to stop a motorist near Elkhart Road and Riverside Boulevard at 11:35 p.m. Friday. A pursuit ensued and officers lost sight of the vehicle near C.R.s 32 and 17.
ARRESTS
—A 33-year-old South Bend man was arrested by Goshen police at 1:43 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. 20 bypass and U.S. 331 on charges of possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. According to Goshen police, officers made a traffic stop in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 20 at U.S. 331 for a moving violation. The driver was arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
—A 42-year-old Goshen man was arrested by Goshen police at 2:14 a.m. Sunday at North Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Police made a traffic stop for a moving violation and found the driver was reportedly intoxicated. The driver was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
—A 25-year-old Goshen man was arrested by Goshen police at 3:45 a.m. Sunday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Police said they stopped a vehicle at Lincolnway East and Fairfield Avenue and the driver was reportedly intoxicated. He was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
—A 49-year-old Bristol woman was arrested by Goshen police at 5:13 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft from Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road. She was released at the scene on a written promise to appear in court.
—A 21-year-old Goshen man was arrested by Goshen police at 11:32 p.m. Friday at Third and Pike streets on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
—A 27-year-old South Bend woman was arrested by Goshen police at West Pike Street and Indiana Avenue at 2:01 a.m. Saturday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The woman was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
THEFTS
—A bicycle trailer was stolen from the 300 block of East Jefferson Street overnight Friday into Saturday, according to a Goshen police report.
—A 17-year-old Goshen girl reported to Goshen police at 12:32 p.m. Friday that her cell phone and wallet were stolen in the 700 block of West Lincoln Avenue.
HIT-AND-RUN
—A vehicle struck property owned by the Moose Lodge, 388 Johnson St., Goshen, at 10 a.m. Saturday and then left the scene, according to Goshen police.
—A 27-year-old Goshen woman reported to Goshen police at 1:02 p.m. Saturday that someone sideswiped her vehicle and then left the scene without providing information in the 400 block of North Second Street.
—A vehicle parked in the 400 block of West Pike Street in Goshen was struck by another vehicle, which left the scene without its driver providing information, according to Goshen police. The incident was reported to police at 8:49 p.m. Saturday.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
—A 35-year-old Goshen woman reported to Goshen police at 10:05 a.m. Saturday that someone forced open the door to her apartment in the 2700 block of Briarwood Boulevard.
—A 49-year-old Goshen woman reported to Goshen police at 2:22 p.m. Saturday that juveniles damaged the back side of her trailer in the 61000 block of C.R. 17.
COUNTERFEIT
A man attempted to use two fake $10 bills at 7-Eleven, 1000 S. Main St., at 8:17 a.m. Friday, according to Goshen police.
