Minecraft Crimson Fungus is one of the newer types of Mushroom added to the game. Both it and the Warped Fungus are tailored to their environment, as they spawn exclusively in the Nether. Here’s how to find Crimson Fungus in Minecraft, and what practical uses it has once you get it.
Where to Find Crimson Fungus
Crimson Fungus is one of two types of Mushrooms that generates in the Nether. They generate primarily in the Crimson Forest biome of the Nether, though can occasionally spawn in Warped Forests too. They can be harvested with any tool, or by hand, and there are no chances of one not dropping once harvested, so it’s guaranteed you’ll acquire the fungus.

If you are struggling to find any for whatever reason, you can apply Bone Meal to Crimson Nylium (the red grass-like block) in the same way you would apply Bone Meal to Grass Blocks in the Overworld to grow grass and Flowers. They can be placed on any Dirt related blocks, or in Flower Pots. Applying Bone Meal to a Crimson Fungus whilst on a block with no obstructions immediately above it provides a 40% chance for the fungus to grow into a giant fungus, in the same way applying Bone Meal to regular Mushrooms or Saplings works.
Uses for Crimson Fungus
Crimson Fungus is used primarily in the breeding of Hoglins. Feeding them to two Hoglins in the same manner as any other animal in the game will spawn a baby Hoglin, though be aware that having a Crimson Fungus won’t prevent them from attacking you. Providing a Hoglin with a Crimson Fungus also has the added bonus of preventing them from despawning, so you can rest easy as you travel back and forth between the Nether and the Overworld.
