Jean Yip Hair Perming Services
Korean Digital Perm
For a natural and low-maintenance perm, the Korean Digital Perm can achieve volume and body to the ends of your hair. This process uses digitised heat technology to create perm styles like the S and C curl. You can choose to have tighter waves or a slight inward curl on a bob to frame your jawline. This perm style creates soft textured waves and can last up to 6-10 months.
Super Ceramic Wave
For a defined S curl, the Super Ceramic Wave technique heats the hair with ceramic rollers. This style creates voluminous curls that last longer even on the ends of the hair. It is best suited for medium to long-length hair that is not too layered. A ceramic perm also works well on coarse and thick hair.
Cold Wave
A cold perm is the traditional perming technique that doesn’t require heat and is also suitable for curly hair. Dry hair is curled around a rod and a cold solution is applied to mould the hair into the desired wave. A neutralising solution is then added to set the curls in place. The waves created can be tight ringlets that are defined even when wet. This technique is the least damaging with no heat added.
Jean Yip BioSpa Aftercare Products
At Jean Yip Hairdressing, we use our in-house perming solutions and aftercare BioSpa products on freshly treated hair. Our in-house perming products are formulated to maintain your hair health while achieving the curls you desire.
We also offer aftercare hair products from our BioSpa range including a styling gel and a volumising shampoo for curly hair. Our BioSpa hair care range caters to coloured, dry, curly, limp and bleached hair to achieve voluminous, shiny and healthy hair.
Pre-Hair Perm
While voluminous locks look great, not everyone may be suitable for a hair perm. It’s important to have hair that is in good condition before a perm. Our hair experts may recommend you delay your perm appointment if your hair is too damaged. It’s best to wait for your hair to grow out and continue applying hair masks and treatments before opting for a perm.
It’s also not recommended to come in for a perm if you’ve had a chemical treatment 1-2 months before. This can include bleaching, dying or rebonding your hair. Having a perm right after any of these treatments can weaken your hair and damage it.

Post-Hair Perm Care
Use a wide-tooth brush or finger brush your hair
Right after your perm, avoid brushing through your hair. This can change the structure of your curls as it sets over the next couple of days. Instead, gently comb through with a wide-tooth brush or your fingers to maintain the shape of your curls.
Avoid chlorine water
Stay away from swimming pools for at least a week and wear a swim cap when you do go for a swim. The chemicals in the pool can affect the structure of your curls.
Use curl-enhancing hair products
Deep condition every week
Avoid heat-styling products
As your hair is more vulnerable after a perm, try to stay away from heat products like blow dryers and flat irons. These can dry out and damage your hair. If you have to use heat on your hair, make sure to apply a heat protectant first.
Go for regular trims
You may notice some dry or split ends after a perm. Keep your hair healthy with regular trims to get rid of these damaged ends and encourage healthier hair growth.
Hair Perming in Singapore FAQ
How long does a hair perm last?
A perm can last approximately 6 months but this also depends on how well you care for your hair and how quickly your hair grows.
How do I prepare for hair perming in Singapore?
Do your best to keep your hair in a healthy condition by applying nourishing hair masks every week. Don’t bleach, dye or opt for any other chemical treatments on your hair before your perm appointment. Avoid cutting your hair into short layers before a perm as this can also affect your end result.
How often should you wash your hair with a perm?
It’s not recommended to wash your hair every day after a perm because this can strip your hair of its natural oils. Try to wash your hair once a week and use a dry shampoo if your scalp gets greasy.
Do perms damage hair growth?
A perm will not stop your hair growth. However, if done by non-professionals and with products that are not approved, it can damage your hair and make it prone to breakage. It’s important to get your perm done by a hair expert.
